Tutorelli teaches students aged 11 to 18, and their safety is at the centre of everything we do. This policy explains how we protect students during online lessons and what tutors should do if they are ever worried about a child. It applies to everyone who teaches or works with Tutorelli.
We always act in the best interests of the child. To make sure lessons are safe and consistent, all sessions run through Tutorelli's official systems and are recorded. Every tutor goes through background checks before they start, and we give clear expectations around communication, behaviour and professionalism. If a concern is raised, we respond quickly. Safeguarding training is refreshed each year, and this policy is reviewed regularly so it stays up to date.
Before any teaching can begin, every tutor must complete an Enhanced DBS check initiated by Tutorelli, provide valid Right to Work documentation, confirm their identity, and share proof of their qualifications. Tutors may also be required to complete safeguarding onboarding or refresher training if Tutorelli deems it necessary. No tutor is permitted to teach or have contact with students until all checks have been fully completed and verified by Tutorelli.
To protect both students and tutors, all communication must stay within Tutorelli's approved channels. Tutors should not contact students on WhatsApp, SMS, personal email, social media or any private platform. Personal contact details must never be shared. Communication should stay professional, focused on learning and appropriate for the age of the student.
All Tutorelli lessons take place online using official Tutorelli Zoom links, and every lesson is automatically recorded. Tutors should teach from a quiet, tidy space with a simple, neutral background. The session should feel calm and focused, without distractions such as eating, vaping, or background noise. Screen-sharing should only be used for teaching materials. Parents or carers should always know that a lesson is taking place.
If a student says or does something that causes concern, whether it is a worrying comment, a noticeable change in behaviour, distress, or inappropriate behaviour between students, it must be taken seriously. Tutors should pause the lesson if needed and email contact@tutorelli.com straight away with a short factual note describing what was seen or heard. Tutors should not investigate the situation themselves or promise the student confidentiality.
If a child appears to be in immediate danger, call 999 first and then inform Tutorelli.
Where we believe a child could be at risk, Tutorelli may share information with parents or with the appropriate authorities, following UK safeguarding guidance.
Tutors must keep all student information private. Lesson content, including screenshots or recordings, must not be saved on personal devices. All session recordings are stored securely by Tutorelli and are only accessed when necessary for safety, training or review.
If a concern is raised about a tutor's behaviour, Tutorelli may temporarily pause their sessions while it is reviewed. Depending on the situation, we may update parents or involve external agencies. Tutors are expected to cooperate fully with any review.
This policy is reviewed yearly, or sooner if guidance changes. Tutors confirm they have read it as part of their onboarding process; no additional signature is needed.
We want this policy to be clear, useful and complete. If you have any questions, feel something is missing, or would like to raise a concern or suggestion, we are always open to hearing from you.
