This policy explains what personal information Tutorelli holds about you, why we hold it, who we share it with and what you can do about it. It covers parents, students and tutors.
The first part applies to everybody. After it there is a section for parents, one for students and one for tutors, so you can go straight to the part about you.
Tutorelli provides online tutoring. Lessons are delivered over Zoom and arranged through this website.
Tutorelli is the data controller for the information described here. If you have a question about this policy, or you want to exercise any of the rights set out below, write to contact@tutorelli.com.
We hold a record of the emails and text messages the platform has sent you, so we can answer a question about whether something reached you.
Under data protection law we have to have reasons for holding your information. The reasons that apply only to parents, students or tutors are in their own sections below. One applies to everybody:
Because we have a legitimate interest. Keeping the platform secure, preventing fraud, improving how the service works, and keeping records of what we sent to whom.
We do not rely on consent for anything in this policy except optional cookies, and you can withdraw that at any time from our cookie policy.
We do not make automated decisions about parents or students. How software is used in tutor applications is set out in the section for tutors.
We use other companies to run parts of the service. They only receive what they need, and they may not use it for their own purposes.

Our servers are in the United Kingdom. Some of the companies above are based outside the UK, and where information reaches them it is protected by the safeguards the law requires, which for these companies means standard contractual terms approved for that purpose.

This site uses cookies. What they are, what each one does and how to change your mind is set out in our cookie policy.
We hold your name, email address, telephone number, which children you have registered, your booking and lesson history, and a record of your payments. We do not hold your card number. That is held by Stripe, who take the payment for us.
To provide the service you have asked for. Booking lessons, taking payment and giving a tutor what they need to teach your child. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
Because the law requires it. Keeping financial records of what you pay us, for the period HMRC requires.
Most of our students are under 18, and a child's information is given extra protection in law.
You create the account and agree to our terms. We do not ask a child to make that decision. We collect only what a lesson needs, we do not use a child's information for marketing, and we do not profile children.
Lessons are recorded to Zoom's cloud automatically. Recordings exist so that a lesson can be reviewed if there is a concern about safety or about the quality of teaching, and so that a student can go back over what was covered.
You may ask to see a recording of your child's lesson.
Recordings are kept for six months and then deleted, unless we have been asked to keep one because of a specific concern.
Tutors are asked whether they hold an enhanced DBS check with barred list. What we hold and how we handle it is set out in the section for tutors.
We hold your name, your year group, the subjects you are tutored in and your attendance. We also hold the answers you give in quizzes and assessments and how you scored, anything you type to Elli or in the chat, and anything recorded during your lessons. Most of our students are children, and we treat that information accordingly.
To provide the service your parent asked for. Running your lessons, your portal, your quizzes and your assessments. This is necessary to perform our contract with the parent who booked on your behalf.
To keep children safe. Reviewing a lesson recording if a concern is raised. We rely on the substantial public interest of safeguarding children.

If you want to know what we hold about you, ask your parent to contact us, or write to contact@tutorelli.com yourself. We will help you.
We hold your name, contact details, date of birth, your CV and the qualifications on it, the video you upload with your application, the subjects and levels you teach, your availability, your bank details so we can pay you, your right to work documents, and information about your DBS certificate.
To provide the service you have asked for. Matching you to sessions, paying you, and meeting our obligations to the people we engage. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
To keep children safe. Checking your suitability to teach children and holding your DBS information. We rely on the substantial public interest of safeguarding children.
Because the law requires it. Keeping financial records of what we pay you, for the period HMRC requires.
When you apply to teach with us, you upload a short video with your application. We use it to assess your application.
The video is stored with our other documents, on Amazon Web Services. We keep it for three months from the date of your application and then delete it, whatever the outcome.
You are asked whether you hold an enhanced DBS check with barred list, and if so for the certificate number, the date it was issued, and a copy of it.
This is criminal records information and the law treats it as especially sensitive. We hold it because we have to be satisfied that the people teaching children are suitable to do so. Our condition for processing it is the prevention of unlawful acts and the safeguarding of children.
We hold the certificate number, its issue date and its status. We do not publish any of it, we do not share it except where we are required to, and we keep it for six months after we have checked it, in line with the DBS's own guidance, unless we have a specific reason to keep it longer.
We use software to read your CV and to suggest how well your application matches what we are looking for. A person always makes the decision. No application is accepted or rejected automatically, and you can ask us why a decision was made and ask a person to look again.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant we will tell you.
